As sports betting becomes more and more prominent across the United States, the need for more sports lounges, sports bars, and sports expansions within casinos is also gaining momentum.
According to NewYorkUpstate.com, Del Lago Resort and Casino, which is located near Waterloo in Seneca County, is starting construction on a sports lounge, one that will add even more elements to one of Upstate’s biggest casinos and implementing a dedicated section to sports betting.
There are a lot of moving parts in the process as sports betting will be allowed in a restaurant/bar setting. The new sports lounge will occupy the space that had been the Vine Restaurant & Bar, which is located near the entrance the The Vine Showroom.
Additionally, the Vine Showroom remains open for concerts and events.
Del Gado will operate it’s forthcoming sports lounge with Boston-based daily fantasy sports company DraftKings, and they are hoping to have a launch in time for summer.
The summer timestamp is tentative, at best, as it will rely heavily on plans of action from the New York State Gaming Commission, and also could involve lawmakers as well.
The new sports lounge at Del Gado will serve “fan-favorite foods, craft cocktails, and an assortment of domestic and imported beer,” according to an official release.
“We are excited to begin the construction of our new sportsbook and offer this additional amenity for our guests,” Lance Young, del Lago vice president of gaming operations, said via the statement. “This next phase in construction marks an incredible step forward for del Lago Resort & Casino. We are working closely with our partner DraftKings to ensure the lounge is truly a remarkable, state-of-the-art experience for our guests.”
Sports betting is currently legal in the state of New York under a 2013 law which limits it to the four new commercial casinos that have opened across Upstate New York since late 2016 and, by extension, to Upstate New York’s seven full-service Indian nation-owned casinos.
Additionally, the gaming commission has proposed a set of rules for operating and licensing, with a public comment period that ends on May 20th.
In the event there are no changes by that date, the commission could get the licensing started this summer.
State lawmakers are debating changes to the 2013 law in an effort to potentially include allowing online betting via mobile devices and possibly at other venues such as racinos, like in Saratoga for example, or even at OTB centers that are scattered throughout New York state.
Gambling as a whole is seeing marked changes, and there are casinos that offer free spins no deposit for UK customers, and those who offer a ton of perks and benefits nationally and worldwide, both online and in-house.
